Sunday School

                              Bible Song

There are Sunday School classes available for all ages between Labor Day and Memorial Day Weekend.

Bible Song --  Join us each Sunday morning at 9:15 AM in Fellowship Hall for Bible Song Sunday School for children and parents. Time of fellowship with coffee and donuts begins at 9:15 AM.

The Bible Song Sunday School brings young children and parents together once a week at church in an enthusiastic, fun-filled, loving environment to learn Scripture verses. Families learning together in the early stages of faith development insures a healthy youth ministry in future years. Immersion in Scripture coupled with building and strengthening relationships (every week in every church and every night in every home) results in helping parents become faith role models for their children.

Bible Song gently models to parents how to "take five" each night to help them grow closer as a family while simultaneously deepening their relationship with God. We will be exploring the FAITH 5 (share, talk, read, pray, bless), a simple five minute/five step faith practice at the core of each Bible Song lesson.

The children's classes are:

Nursery -- Children from birth to age 3 (Meet in the Nursery Room.)

Bible Song -- Children from age 3 to grade 6, plus parents; see paragraph above.  (Meet in Fellowship Hall.)

Youth -- All youth in grades 7-12 are invited to attend class with Dr. Bob Zimmerman and Becky Pearce. Classes begin September 23. (Meet in Youth Room.)

The adult classes are:

Augsburg Class -- Follows a curriculum developed by Augsburg Fortress, the ELCA publishing house. (Meet in the Chapel.)

Discoverer's Class -- Is doing a bible study series called The Lutheran Difference. The Lutheran Difference Bible Study series will identify how Lutherans differ from other Christians and demonstrate from the Bible why Lutherans differ from other Christians on different topics. Some of the topics include Prayer, Worship, and Marriage and Family. Class begins on September 23rd.  For more information contact Rachel Moritz at 749-5943. (Meet in room 103.)

Luther Class -- Making Sense of the Christian Faith is an exciting and inviting opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversation about the major theological doctrines of the Christian faith in the order of the biblical story.  Topics include Theology, Creation, Sin, Covenant, Law, Community, Incarnation, Atonement, Church and Holy Spirit, and Eschatology. Class begins on September 30th.  (Meet in Room 204/205.)

Reader's Class -- New year, New Book, New Location — The first class will be held on Sunday, September 9th.  We will now be meeting in what was formerly known as the Tent Room - right across from the 2nd floor elevator. New Book: Room of Marvels by James Bryan Smith (2007) 197 pages. The book looks to run around $10.00.  For more information, contact Holly at 762-8965. (Meet in "tent" room.)

Women's Class -- The first class of the new Sunday School Class for women will be on September 23rd. The material chosen is a book entitled Bad Girls of the Bible and What We Can Learn from Them by Liz Curtis Higgs.  A study guide is included at the end of each chapter.  Although badness or sin is obvious in such traits as adultery, lying, lust, etc., it also manifests itself in other ways such as gossip, unkind words, or unrepentant attitudes, of which we are all guilty at times.  Linda Beaver, Roxanna Cecco, and Judy Reed will be team leading this  group.  All women of the church are welcome.  (Meet in room 210.)

Spiritual Discipline Class -- Meet during Lent after 2nd worship in the Parlor.  For more information talk to Pastor Dennis.
