Especially for Visitors of Evangelical Lutheran Church

A congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

Our Mission: To know Christ, and to make Christ known…

WELCOME…Welcome to ELC. We are glad you are interested in worshiping with us. We hope you are blessed by your worship experience. Please sign the attendance pad located at the end of the pew; we ask that you include your address and phone number. There is also a Guest Register located at the back left entrance of the worship area.

ABOUT LUTHERAN WORSHIP...Lutheran worship is liturgical...this means that it follows a form that includes confession and forgiveness, proclaims the Word, expresses our faith, and celebrates the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The liturgy is printed in your bulletin. The hymns are in the hymnal located on the back of the pew in front of you.

WORSHIP HOURS…Each Sunday at 8:00 and 10:45 a.m. There is Seasonal Worship (Christmas and Easter) at special times.

LARGE PRINT BULLETINS & HEARING DEVICES…Large print bulletins, with enlarged hymns, and hearing devices are available from the ushers.

ESPECIALLY FOR CHILDREN…We welcome children to Evangelical. Special children’s bulletins and activity bags are available from the ushers. The Nursery, located through the right front entrance of the worship area, is staffed during the 10:45 service. We also have Children’s Sermons and Children’s Worship at the 10:45 service. Following the Children’s Sermon, the children are led to Room 104 for Children’s Worship.

HOLY COMMUNION…Holy Communion is celebrated each week. We welcome to the Lord’s Table all the baptized people of God. The ushers will direct you forward at the appropriate time. The bread and wine may be received by Intinction, in which a wine-dipped wafer is placed on the tongue; or the communicant may receive the elements separately and should take an empty glass from an usher. Children who receive Holy Communion at their home church are welcome to receive Holy Communion. Children who do not yet receive communion are invited to come forward with their parents for a blessing. Please instruct them to fold their hands and bow their heads so the leaders will know they are to receive a blessing. (If you are interested in Christian Baptism, please see the Pastor.)

SUNDAY SCHOOL…The Sunday School hour begins at 9:30 a.m. There are classes for all ages. Nursery for birth-age 3; Pre-K classes; Kid’s Bible Club for Grades K-4 includes Bible Stories, Music, Crafts & Games; Pre-Confirmation Class is a Bible Study class for Grades 5 & 6; Confirmation Class prepares 7th-9th Graders for church membership; Adult Classes include Bible Studies & Discussion Groups. Classes are also offered for Seekers and New Christians. Please ask an usher to help you find a class.

MEMBERSHIP INQUIRIES…Membership inquiries are welcome and encouraged. We also welcome your comments and suggestions. Please speak to the pastor or contact the church office at your convenience.

EVANGELICAL IS HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE…The Choir Entrance provides entrance to the building and main floor with no stairs. The elevator, located in the hall near the Chapel, provides access to the basement and second floors.
