What to Expect

How do I get to ELC?
Click on the Map/Directions button on the dropdown side bar menu.

Which entrance should I use?
Our church’s main entrance is off Church Street, which is a one way street. Turn left into church parking lot and park on your left in convenient Visitor Parking. A sign will point you towards Worship and Offices Entrance. Please enter through a glass door on your right, walk up the steps, go straight through the hallway and the entrance into sanctuary narthex will be on your right. There you will be welcomed by our friendly greeters and ushers.

You can also enter right off Church Street through one of the three red doors, which used to be the main entrance; these doors will take you directly into the sanctuary narthex where you’ll be welcomed by our friendly greeters and ushers.

The other church’ entrance is off Second Street, which is also a one way street. Turn left into the main parking lot and enter through Choir/Nursery Entrance. Church Choir room will be on your right, and Children’s Nursery on your left. Go down the hallway, turn left and walk through a double door; the entrance into sanctuary will be on your right. This entrance is handicapped accessible.

Our Worship Services
Lutheran worship is liturgical... this means that it follows a form that includes confession and forgiveness, proclaims the Word, expresses our faith, and celebrates the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The liturgy is printed in the bulletins. The hymns are in the hymnals located on the back of the pews.  The 8:00 AM Worship Service is traditional in style. Our 10:45 AM Celebration Worship Service is a "blended" service incorporating some contemporary music and children's message.

Holy Communion
Holy Communion is celebrated at all worship services. At the Sunday morning worship services you can come up to the altar rail and kneel. Then you receive a wafer that you can dip into the wine in the chalice or wine is poured into individual cups you pick up on your way. Grape juice if also available. Instructions for Holy Communion are in the bulletin plus you’re directed by the ushers.

Especially For Children
We welcome children to Evangelical. Special children’s bulletins and activity bags are available from the ushers. The Nursery, located through the right front entrance of the worship area, is staffed during the 10:45 AM Celebration Worship Service, 9:30 AM Summer Worship Service and 9:30 AM Sunday School hour.  We also have Children’s Sermons and Children’s Worship at the 10:45 AM Celebration Service and 9:30 AM Summer Worship Service. Following the Children’s Sermon, the children are invited for Children’s Worship.

Large Print Bulletins & Hearing Devices
Large print bulletins, with enlarged hymns, and hearing devices are available from the ushers.

Coffee Hour
Please join us for a time of fellowship in the Parlor each Sunday morning between the early and late servcies.  Consist with our Lutheran tradition, coffee and snacks are available to enhance the conversation and fellowship. :)  We don't have coffee hour during summer worship schedule.

Restrooms
To locate a restroom, exit the back of the worship area. Take two rights and proceed down the hallway. At the stairs, go left. The Men’s Room is on the left, the Women’s Room is straight ahead.

How should I dress?
All are welcome at Evangelical no matter how they are dressed. Typically most people dress casually for all the services.

We will not embarrass you
You will not be asked to stand and introduce yourselves. You can feel free to come to the Holy Communion or just stay sitting in the pew. Greeters will welcome you and help you with anything you need. Feel free to sit wherever you like, fill out the friendship pad and please introduce yourself to people sitting next to you. Bulletin that you receive as you enter sanctuary will lead you through the worship service.
